United States - 1787 (September 17th)
Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia.
United States - 1862 (September 22nd)
President Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that all slaves in the Confederate-held territory would be set free as of January 1, 1863.
United States - 1882 (September 5th)
Labor Day was first observed on the first Monday in September in the U.S. It is a federal holiday. Celebrated annually as a tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. In 2024 we observe Labor Day on September 2nd.
Poland - 1939 (September 1st)
The Invasion of Poland, marking the beginning of World War II when Germany invaded Poland, leading to the conflict's outbreak. The invasion started with the attack on the Polish military base at Westerplatte and is remembered as the start of Poland's involvement in the war.
Poland - 1939 (September 17th)
Soviet Invasion of Poland - following the Nazi invasion, the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east, in accordance with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact signed between Germany and the Soviet Union. This event led to the division of Poland between the two occupying powers.
Poland - 1939 (September 28th)
The signing of the German-Soviet boundary and friendship treaty, which formalized the division of Poland.
Poland - 1943 (September 29th)
Lech Wałęsa was born in Popowo, Gmina Tłuchowo. A prominent political leader and human rights activist, Wałęsa co-founded the trade union "Solidarity" and served as the President of Poland from 1990 to 1995. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983 for his efforts in promoting democracy and labor rights.

The United Nations International Day of Peace is celebrated each year to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace. The International Day of Peace is also a day of ceasefire - personal or political.
